A letter to Santa, free to print.

Writing to Santa is one of the best bits of the run-up to Christmas. Our template gives children a little structure: who they are, what they're proud of, three wishes and a question for Santa. Print as many as you like.

Tips by age

  • Under 4: let them tell you what to write and do the drawing themselves. A scribble of a reindeer counts.
  • 4 to 6: they can write their name and copy a word or two. Help with the rest, and leave space for a picture.
  • 7 and up: let them fill it in alone. The "something I'm proud of" line is the one to watch: it's often lovely.

Make it about more than presents

The template asks what they did that was kind this year and what they're proud of before it gets to wishes. It turns the letter into a little moment of reflection, and it gives you something to praise. The "question for Santa" line is always worth reading: reindeer diets, chimney sizes and how the sleigh is steered all come up.

Sending it

Royal Mail runs a letters-to-Santa service every year, with a special address and a closing date in early December. Check their website for this year's details. Some families post it up the chimney instead, or leave it out with the mince pie.

A letter back

If you'd like a reply, Santa writes back: a personal letter from Santa with his wax seal and a Nice List certificate, posted to you, answering what they wrote.

Santa can talk about it

If you'd like Santa to mention the letter, tell the elves what's in it when you book a call. He'll talk about the wishes and answer the question, by name. The first call is free. He never promises presents, so Christmas morning stays a surprise.

Talk with Santa is a phone call from Santa for children across the UK. Santa is an AI voice, made in Lancashire by PixelArc Ventures. He never asks for a surname or address, and never promises presents.
