Santa keeps a telephone by the workshop door. Ring it and he picks up, asks who's calling, and hears what's top of your list. It's free, and it's really him on the line.
A normal UK landline number, so it costs whatever your plan charges for one, usually nothing. One chat per phone each Christmas.
What happens when you ring
- Santa answers, ho ho ho and all. He asks who's calling and how old they are.
- He asks whether they've been good, and what's top of the list. It goes in the big book.
- About two minutes later he has to get back to the elves, so he says goodbye.
- Ring again and Jingle the elf picks up, because Santa's only got one telephone and a great many children.
For grown-ups
Want Santa to ring them instead?
Tell the elves their name, their age and what they've been up to, and Santa rings your mobile at a time you choose. He knows them by name, praises the specific thing they did, hears the wish list and answers their questions. The first call is free.

Is it really free to ring Santa?+
Yes. You pay only what your phone plan charges for an ordinary UK landline call, which is usually nothing. Each phone gets one chat with Santa a year, then one of his elves answers instead.
How long does Santa have?+
About two minutes. He's got a workshop to run. For a proper chat, a grown-up can book a call and Santa rings you at a time you choose.
What does Santa ask?+
Your name, how old you are, whether you've been good, and what's top of your list. He never asks where you live, your surname or your school.
Can a grown-up listen in?+
Of course. Put him on loudspeaker. Santa's used to a room full of people, and he'll pick up anything a grown-up shouts from the background.
